Horses, Paarden, Hester

"Show me your horse, and I will tell you who you are."

Horses have been a part in my life in a long long time. As far as I can remember was the first time I was sitting on a horse when i visited my grandmother. In the Winschoter Stadspark they had shetlandponies and children could be lead around for a small amount of money. The first ridinglessons i got on ridingschool "De Hoefslag" in Amsterdam, and forrest rides I did in the "Amsterdamse Bossen" with the Islandic Pony Senter "Hestar".

In 1972 we moved to Winschoten and i started riding in Bellingwolde with the Ridingschool from LR NETA (Nuttig En Tevens Aangenaam). I learned to jump but i prefered dressage so when i moved two years later to Assen i found "Manege De Tarpan" in Deurze from Piet and Leny Bakker which was a Dressage ridingschool. Here I came in contact and start loving the Lipizzan horse as many of the horses were of the Lipizzan breed. I started riding on Acilla, participated in dressage competitions on arab Adonis, learned to to ride a young horse on CAI and more advanced dressage on Nobia and Allegra.

One period i helped and learned a lot about driving from Willem Bobbink, a farrier and four in hand driver living in Orvelte, in the time he went over from the Friesian horse to the Lipizzan horse.
I also followed courses in exterior judgement and equine hoof care.

I stayed on this ridingschool til I met my husband and moved with him to Norway in 1988, Piet and Leny are still good friends who visit Norway several times a year.

My first owned horse was a roan coloured KWPN stallion named Sander (Watteau x Commandant mother Harienka) in 1977. The second horse came first after i moved to Norway, the Lipizzan mare Alga in 1989. After several years trying to get her pregnant we got ourselve a young stallion named Pluto Favorina. Of course at that time Alga decided to become pregnant and gave us 2 fowls, Allegra (2000) and Ayla (2001). Pluto and Ayla got sold.

Since 2007 Alga and Allegra have company from a crossbreed Dartmoor/Welsh called Star (1998).
